still a daddy's girl
one of my earliest memory of him was when we went to La Union. I used to hate my dad during those moments since he just loves to see me drown at my mom's office outing. though he tried to explain to me that he was teaching me how to swim, well obviously i did not understand why the hell he wanted to me to drink the whole ocean and make me feel like i was some kind of a fish... sheesh...i know father's day was celebrated a week ago, yet somehow i wanted to thank my dad. i wasn't able to celebrate it with him since he had those freaking sore eyes.
thinking about all of our experiences, it makes me look back and reminisce about those days when i used to have all those piggy back rides with him. there i pretended that i was somekind of a superhero. i was invincible. with my dad, i was the strongest among all superheroes. hehe..yeah it was weird but i guess we just have this special kind of bond that no one could ever break. yup we were the unbeatable team. we used to have this scrabble sundays, which i love to hate (since i wanted to play that wacky washer). while on weekdays my dad helps me out to sneak off, stay up late and watch tv past my bedtime. at times my mom would call him as the "konsintidor" of my random "kakulitan" and tantrums. it is usually in my dad's room where i would sleep, he would tuck me, kiss me on my forehead and tell goodnight to his favorite princess. how he wished for me not to grow up. or just slowly grow up.
well it was during those moments wherein i could not understand my dad about his wishes, until i grew up. i guess there came a stage wherein i detached myself from my dad. i guess i wanted to prove to myself and to everyone that i'm independent. somehow i was ashamed to be called daddy's girl.
but i guess there are just certain realities that you can't live without. certain realities that you will always go back to. i guess i started to learn those things when i started to miss my dad. though piggy back days are oh-so-impossible, i guess somehow i missed our bond.
there i decided that we should have our weekend dates. my dad and i would usually "bum". we would eat isaw, turon, donuts and even 6peso ice cream. every saturday we have this pig out afternoon and at night we just love watching dvds of korean movies.
though at times we have this typical fight about him being so overprotective of me, i still love him. yup, he's the "bestest" dad. he knows how to make me smile. he also knows hows to handle my random tantrums and my childish weirdness. though we have these petty fights, he's still the "bestest" guy. our weekend dates will always be the most special days for me (especially with his home-cooked sinigang or kare-kare with special bagoong) .
last night after our "glutton" day he tucked me again to sleep. he said goodnight to his favorite princess. yet, he did not wish anymore.
yup. i guess. i'm still a daddy's girl.
yup im still your girl dad. :) (i do hope you liked my surprise) i love you happy dad's day.
